1.5 lbs boneless chicken cut into 1-inch chunks

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 tablespoons butter

2 teaspoons fresh grated or dried ginger

6 cloves garlic, grated or finely minced

2 tablespoons garam masala

1 - 28 oz can of tomato sauce

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon salt

1 or more tablespoons of Hoff Sauce

1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

cooked rice, for serving

naan bread, for serving


Heat up vegetable oil in a deep pan or Dutch oven. Brown chicken chunks evenly and set aside on paper towels.

Discard extra oil from the pan but keep the browned bits. Melt butter in the same pan, then stir in ginger, garlic, and garam masala. Brown the mixture for about a minute until fragrant.

Pour in the tomato sauce and bring it to a boil while scraping off the browned bits from the pan. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.

Mix in sugar, salt, heavy cream, and Hoff Sauce. Add the browned chicken back to the pan and let it simmer in the sauce for 10 minutes.

Serve over cooked rice with naan bread and a sprinkle of cilantro.
