Back in 2020, when everyone learned to make bread at home, Hoff created his take on a legendary retro classic: Taco Tico Tacos! A throwback to his upbringing in Kansas in the ‘80s, this delicious recipe uses well-known techniques from the fast food industry to match the taste and texture of Taco Tico's famous taco meat. This recipe is so good you’ll feel like you’ve time-traveled back to the days of parachute pants, checkerboard Vans, & Pac-Man Fever!
1 pound ground beef
3/4 cup water
2 tbls butter
1/3 cup oatmeal, briefly pulsed in the coffee grinder
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbls white vinegar
1/4 tsp MSG (optional but called Accent in the spice section)
1:
In a skillet over medium heat, add your ground beef, water, and butter. Give it a good stir until the beef is nice and broken up.
2:
Add the oatmeal, chili powder, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, vinegar, and MSG (if using).
3:
Simmer, uncovered, until the meat is cooked through and thickened. Note: the meat will seem a bit oily, but once it cools, it'll all come together.
4:
Serve on hard or soft taco shells with cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and of course, Hoff Sauce!
We use fresh Tennessee grown Jalapeños to craft this six-ingredient Everyday Hot Sauce. This fan favorite has just the right amount of heat and tang with a smooth, smoky finish. Always sure to compliment your dishes without overpowering them.
